  Albany was settled by Europeans in 1826 the first colony settled in Western Australia now a thriving multicultural City boasting of approximately 30,000 people. Major industries are tourism and agriculture (wool, beef, grain), aquaculture and fishing. Albany historical buildings house museums, galleries and restaurants. The natural attractions, including Torndirrup National Park rugged coastline; highlights, the Gap, a 24 metre drop to the water, the Natural Bridge, a granite formation in the shape of a bridge and Whale watching cruises July to October frolic in King George Sound.
Denmark is approximately 54.0 kilometres to the west and Walpole is approximately 120.0 kilometres to the southwest and Perth Western Australia's major city, is 409 kilometres northwest.
